Annual Sick Leave Buy Back Opportunity

It's that time of year again when you may have the opportunity to buy back your 2015 unused sick leave.  To be eligible to buy back your unused sick leave you must have a balance of at least 60 days sick leave as of the end of 2015.  Here are some SLBB Commonly Asked Questions that may be helpful in making your decision to buy back or not.  If you are eligible, and choose to take advantage of this benefit, please return the SLBB Application Form to Payroll by January 31, 2016. This policy is in accordance with WAC 392-136-015.

You May Receive a Form 1095C in January

Your payroll department has been working hard to get ready for new reporting requirements to stay in compliance with the Affordable Care Act.  Please be aware that you may receive a form 1095C in January, which reports your medical benefit status with the district. This new form will be in addition to your normal W2 form.  You may also receive a form 1095B from your medical insurance provider.  Both these forms are to be used when filing your 2015 IRS taxes.  Please consult your tax adviser if you have questions on how to report these forms.

Here’s a quick reminder of your Sick Leave Board Policy

Just a quick reminder that according to your Board Policy #5401, if you are requesting an absence of more than five days, a doctor’s note could be required before you can return to work.  In the case of any type of absence of more than five days, a paper absence form in addition to your AESOP absence request should be filled out at your building and sent to HR for approval.  Thanks for your help in making sure your HR department is aware of your absence needs.

Would you like to know more about your Family Medical Leave Rights?

In some of your absence instances, you may qualify for FMLA. Board Policy #5404 details the types of leave that may qualify for FMLA. If you would like to know more about your rights to FMLA, we have provided a link to the United States Department of Labor fact sheet page for your perusal.  In the case of an absence that qualifies for FMLA,  if you have filled out an absence request form, your HR department will send you a letter with your rights to FMLA that details what this means to you.

CALLING ALL STAFF!

Please help us get the word out that we are in desperate need of qualified substitutes in all areas of the district, including; para-educator, food service, teacher, bus driver, and custodian.  If you know someone who would like to work but does not want to be tied down to a permanent position, and loves working with the kids, please tell them to check out the school district website for substitute applications.
